Part of a new collection. This piece was weeks of work, and even started as a still life before I turned it on its side and got messy. I played with clean lines, masking tape and oil pastels. My aim was to create a piece of work which represented the contradictions in the human heart as it lives a life. The love and the hope; the despair and the pain; regret, guilt and storms; peace, light, brighter horizons and harmony. It includes all the elements, the wind shaking things loose; water a depth we can’t fathom, at once serene and mysteriously unknown; fire burning with love, passion but capable of massive destruction and loss too, and finally the earth beneath our feet, a multitude of colour and layers, history and new growth, supporting, grounding, reliable.
